Belarus views participation in Expo Milano 2015 as image building project

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs views the participation in Expo Milano 2015 as an image building project for the country, Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Guryanov said during an online conference hosted by BelTA on 31 March.

If we talk about why we need to participate in the expo, it should be noted that a year or two ago we launched our best attempts to improve the image of the country. First of all, we consider it as an image building project, the deputy minister said.

In his words, once abroad Belarusian representatives heard a lot about Belarusians unable to present themselves and sell the product they do properly. Alexander Guryanov stressed: Our presence at the exhibition will last for six months as a separate pavilion. We will do our best to use this chance and present our country in its best light, including the country's export potential, investment projects, cultural traditions and national cuisine.

According to the organizers of Expo 2015, at least 15-20 million visitors are expected to attend the exhibition. Some of them will see the Belarusian booth. We are ready for a serious and professional presentation of our country and to talk over cooperation with partners from Italy and other countries within the Belarusian National Day and the Days of Belarusian Economy and Science, Alexander Guryanov said. Expo 2015 will become a platform for an intensive dialogue between business circles and local authorities from many countries, Alexander Guryanov added.

Expo Milano 2015 is the world's biggest exposition of the latest technologies. It was first held in 1851. The theme of Expo 2015, which is to take place on 1 May-31 October 2015, is Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. Partaking in the expo will be about 150 countries, ten international organizations and 30 corporations.
